July 13, 2023 - 40th Birthday celebration for I (Sushi Yuki): Pnp. Fruits mostly gone, aromas of eucalyptus, mint, san ja, hint of wood. A little rustic on the palate, tannins still a touch obvious.

December 17, 2021 - Perfectly mature wine with considerable spicy, savoury and gamey notes. It still has plenty of life ahead.

November 7, 2020 - This is just lovely. I'm enjoying this much more than last night's Grivot Echezeaux. Fully mature, ultra silky and smooth rich fruit cake flavors. Sort of like old grenache or is old grenache sort of like mature pommard CdE? Hard to spit.

August 31, 2020 - Beaune theme dinner at Red House Copthorne. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with distracting nail polish volatile acidity, and then underlying aromas of perfumed florals and caramel. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), integrated medium+ highish tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet tea leaves, sweet caramelized red cherries, sweet earth, underlying iron minerality, and some leather. Medium+ finish.
Good quality. Body and structure is still there though fruit is not generous.
Deserves a slight higher score if not for the distracting VA nose. Drink up.

January 13, 2020 - Rather aggressive woody aroma that carries through to some raw oaky notes on the mid-palate. Rather lean and disjointed in overall character, and I had a difficult time trying to enjoy it. I am a fan of Courcel, but this bottle was not up to the standards I expect. Served with a ham hock and goose confit white bean stew; the acid level did help cut through the rich flavors, but not else to praise about this wine.
