March 3, 2022 - Exhibit A is a twenty-four year-old zinfandel, with the consensus being that 16+% ABV wines like this couldn't or shouldn't age. Wrong-o. Deep purple color with a slight amber rim and an effusive nose of boysenberry, Asian spices and Provencale herbs. Ripe and brambly, with leaf litter, Szechuan pepper and cigar notes, with noticeable heat on the nose and back end, but still remarkably balanced. A healthy dose of acidity keeps it lively, and tannins are largely resolved, but there is a bit of a prickle on the tip of the tongue on the finish. Zin is not generally my bag, bu this is an interesting wine.

May 31, 2021 - Fully mature, this bottle was in a great spot. Lots of floral notes, leather, and hints of sour red fruit. Fresh acidity hides the alcohol on all but the finish (even there, have to look for it). Impressive finish Beautiful bricking around the rim.

July 26, 2019 - Red cherry, dried red cassis, handfull of exotic spices, good lift, classic zin notes, excellent shape. Renee and Jay's Turvical.

February 11, 2013 - Dull dark ruby; milk chocolate and candied cherries delivered in a high alcohol wash at 16.4. Despite the roasted and ripe character and its mature state the wine remained nonfatiguing to drink and was enjoyable right to the last drop.

February 5, 2011 - Hard wine to evaluate...upon opening the bottle, it was a soupy, alcoholic, oaky mess. After some time the flavors integrated and texture emerged. Flavors of cocoa, black cherry, nutmeg, alcohol and butterscotch. Some pepper on the palate. Wish this had a little more tannin and much more acidity. I thought it was okay, others will love it, and some will find it undrinkable. 16.4% abv in 98 is impressive.
