January 7, 2024 - Not bad, but not very elegant, very soft, no notes. but did not leave an impression. 日本人パーテー

August 8, 2023 - Opened this for Xavier94’s birthday tasting (see his excellent note with which I concur). Will resist opening another for at least a few years.

August 8, 2023 - The fine flavors are intricate, here, with an array of cabinet spice, antique furniture in the form of clove, cinnamon, red licorice, thyme,nutmeg/baking spices that make way to more Beaune-earth typicity. Blood and soy sauce umami richness works well against the delicate dried red cherry and cranberry fruit. Very secondary at this stage in development with none of the heavy roasted/stewed fruit of some 2003 reds. Supple, soft palate with a dried herb spattering into the finish. 93-94. You can drink this now, as this is already showing a good structural resolution to the tannins vs. the fruit. 93-94.

July 27, 2023 - Huge nose of cèpes de Bordeaux, very animal, leather, sous-bois, roasted BBQ meat... Very very nice concentration of bacon fat, BBQ meat, sappy strawberries, loads of completely integrated tannin, very very nice!!

June 1, 2023 - Very nice nose of beef blood, orange, spicy, floral… needs 2 hours of slow ox to resolve all tannin, szeet roasted cherries, nice crisp acidity, good concentration, has easily 10 more years to improve to become filly tertiary. Great wine!!

(Drouhin Joseph Beaune Clos des Mouches) It’s a wide, slightly dense nose that slowly develops baked red fruit notes. The palate is also a little dense, showing plenty of grainy tannin - though it’s not so astringent. The fruit has a slightly roast impression, but for all that is really quite interesting. Overall this comes across a little rustic and lacking finesse. Fans of 2003 will enjoy it for sure, but it’s not my ‘bag’.
