Community Tasting Notes 11

January 10, 2016 - Medium-dark red with medium transparency. Aromas of sweet cherry, leather, smoke, and a hint of anise. Palate has sweet leather, cherry, and sous bois elements with the wood fully integrated from a structural standpoint. The finish is medium-long and this is really in a great place for my tastes. Drink.

January 26, 2014 - Medium-dark red color with moderate transparency. Decanted off moderate amount of fine sediment. Aromas of cherry, vanilla, smoke, and leather. Palate has leather, olive, beet, and some cherry notes that emerge with some barrel tannins drying out a medium finish. This still shows lots of fruit and wood and is holding interest, but the barrel notes seem to be the factor that will keep this from being a long-term improver. Drink or hold.

January 28, 2012 - Medium rust red color with medium transparency. Aromas of coffee, black cherry, chocolate, and a hint of tomato. Palate is dark with coffee, chocolate, rhubarb, and cherry notes. Some green and black olive notes appear on a medium finish. Expect the wood to outlive the fruit, but this has enough structure to carry what's left of the fruit in a way that I ended up enjoying. Drink or hold.

February 12, 2010 - This bottle differed from previous bottle. Most notably, this bottlle's nose was much fresher. Initially, it opened with a very pronounced licorice and very fresh fruit. Everything about this nose suggested a much younger bottle as compared to the previous one. The color was a rich, dark maroon. The nose on this bottle never developed the earthy/animale qualities like the earlier bottle.
The palate was very similar to the previous bottle. In that regard, this bottle very closely mirrors the first one. Still a very competent bottle, and still drinking wonderfully. Well done (and, again, I'm still not a big Broadley fan).
