September 5, 2023 - Very nice, well aged. Great firm fruit with a bit of black pepper and green pepper. A floral note. Nice tight acidity along with firm fruit and wood. Rides a great line between full fruit and lean structure. Really good now and for the next...5-8(?) years.

July 9, 2023 - Balanced. Past prime but totally drinkable and together. Flavors have lost the focus.

November 29, 2018 - Lovely dark fruit, coffee, earth, smoke. Has a good dried herbal note but also good round fruit, not too lean. Dark tar and good bracing acid. A really nice wine, drinking well. I'd say this is early drinking window. Drink now till 2028.

January 27, 2017 - Very deep shade of red with high optical density and medium plus to high reflectivity. Big, intense, juicy nose, with ripe dark sour cherry, aromatic spice (cinnamon and xylene), tobacco, and some garden soil. Medium plus to full body, refreshing medium acidity, and nice structured, open-textured tannins. Flavours of red fruit, and tart apple orchard on the attack. The spice comes on soon after the approach, with cloves, cinnamon, and earthy celery seed mixing with the fruit. Full midpalate, with an almost wild, feral character whipping up the tart flavours around a juicy frame of earthy vegetal notes. Absolutely rebellious, strong in character, and yet with a smooth appeal. The finish is of tart apple and spices powered with tobacco dust, and lingers for good length and intensity.

This is really nice wine- very drinkable and juicy, but with some complexity and swirling bad manners (but in a good way). A very fun wine to drink, and structured enough to be a wonderful complement to food. Condensed and powerful, yet suave and masculine, this is well-made, transparent and reflective wine. I really like the style, with the only thing over the top being a charming disregard for the rules- here is power and authenticity in one package- nice! Certainly has the structure to age, and could improve, but if you like a controlled wild, can definitely be enjoyed now!

August 20, 2016 - Deep and rich, yet transparent and see-through-able. Aromas of tobacco, spice, sour cherry, roasted beat, loam, capsicum and gym sock. Medium bodied with plenty of drying, slightly chunky tannin, lots of sour cherry, great energy and acid, well balanced and a clean, dry, mouth watering finish. Right up my alley, so good. Great with chinjarosu, still primary and nowhere near its peak. Try again in three years.
