January 11, 2014 - Pretty good, but past it's prime (or never had it?)

December 3, 2012 - First night this was open, I was less than impressed. The nose was nice, a little plum and a little leather and tobacco leaf, but not opulent. This is a dark wine, and the palate was dark, with plum skin, black cherries, and some herbal rasp, but everything was way down in the mix. Under vacuvin for a night, re-tasted on Monday as I cooked dinner and it just started happening. Pour a little, wow, that's delicious, some savory salted roasted meats, some slightly olive-y notes, the syrah aspect is the real deal, but then there's a little wildness from the blend, some garrigue, and now a hint of lavender. A lot of wine for the $12 or so I paid.

December 14, 2011 - Clear almost opaque ruby core out to a purple edge - very youthful in appearance. Clean nose of black fruit jam, white pepper, herbs and just a touch of alcohol (not off putting just warming) of medium intensity. Dry with medium plus acid, medium body, medium plus alcohol and medium ripe tannins. Medium intensity flavours of ripe plum, cherry, oak and spice. The finish is medium in length (not surprising given the youth of the wine) with plenty of fruit carried by the acid and tannin. Good and will develop but I'm not convinced this will do much after 3 or so years. There's too much jam and not enough structure... Drink now and over the next 3-5 years.
