January 27, 2009 - Nicely light and restrained orange-peel on the nose; well crafted palate that evolves and develops through to the long finish. Oily full body with an off dry texture; spicy late palate tingle. Very elegant and fine.

September 5, 2008 - Wine-Pages Nottingham Offline (Pretty Orchid Restaurant, Nottingham): Clearly gewurz again, but this is much, much classier than the previous wine. It has a fairly rich, oily nose that's also very restrained - nicely floral, but without much of the rosewater aromas you get from lower grade wines from more heavily crushed grapes. This is super, restrained gewurz on the palate. Very subtle, and clearly made by someone who understands gewurz. There's a bit of sweetness to it, but without going to late harvest levels, which really helps in combination with the food. On being revealed, I was surprised it was "only" Hugel's Tradition level.

April 11, 2008 - Wine-Pages Alsace Offline (St John Restaurant, London): Rather slight nose - a bit gassy and a touch raisiny. On the palate, this is an archetypal Hugel gewurz: rich, well made, nothing overly exciting. Works well. Good solid Hugel.
Really not at all good with the foie gras.
