Community Tasting Notes 6

April 29, 2016 - I've been holding on to this for a while. I remember buying it years back for an absolute steal. It's developed only a little bit since then. Makes me want to disagree with the other reviews here - I think this will be very long lived, and I could have held on to it for another 10 years in fact. But it's drinking well now with a good decant.

Perfect looking cork. Very dense at first with blueberry, cassis, dark chocolate, pencil shavings. A little heat sticking out but the oak is integrated (on the nose at least). The structure on the palate is great. Appreciably dense and chocolatey, but with time it becomes more elegant and greater complexity emerges. Mildly coarse but fine tannins, actually feels more like oak tannin than Shiraz tannin, or perhaps there's some cabernet in the blend. Good length too.

March 9, 2016 - I get the feeling this has reached its peak. Very soft, very savoury, with fruit that is integrated and tiny tiny fine tannins. Drink up.

November 14, 2014 - Deep red and brick brown colour. Nose of muffled blueberry, vanilla. The palate is very dry and earthy, obviously cool climate. Still some drying tannins in the finish, which is long. Can do with a few more years away imo.

November 12, 2012 - Dark, inky red. A nose of cassis, blueberry and anise. Spicy at the front of the palate, with black fruits and a powdery tannin backbone. Lovely and savoury. Might improve a little more over the next few years but might not either.

    June 14, 2012 - C: Deep purple with a dark red rim.
N: Some red fruits with a touch of smoke. I get a touch of a musty smell but it has literally just been opened.
P: It is on the lighter side and yet its pretty intense and well flavoured. I get deep blue black fruits (plum / blackberry?) and spice with a finish that light oak and a tannic coating. Nice length, good acidity.
