March 14, 2013 - Chianti Classico tasting- the black rooster crows at the dawn of a new age (Allerton Hotel, Chicago IL): Nose: Straightforward with tones of dark red cherries, spices, oak, and anise. The oak is a bit too noticeable and is in the forefront.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and some stiff tannins. This is lacking some depth with solid tones of dark red cherries, oak, and spice tones.
Overall: The oak is a bit overpowering and it's lacking some depth as well. It's a decent chianti, but a bit on the forgettable side.
