Community Tasting Notes 14

November 11, 2018 - Nice with black truffle risotto. Decanted for about 9 hours. Still fairly brooding with tar and tobacco notes, with dark cherry fruit more on the background. Excellent.

July 15, 2017 - Starts well but tannins kick in 1 hr down the line
At peak and unlikely to improve fruit still present but starting to fade.Tar ,cloves and dried rose petals and ends with a touch of camphor and aniseed
92 -drink the rest over next 2 years

February 6, 2015 - past it's peak. Decanted for 2+ hours. Rust color. Earthy nose and taste. Not all that complex.

June 24, 2013 - This tastes much older than it is -- a touch of honey on the nose suggests oxidation, but there is also some faded wild rose, and on the palate cherry and rose flavors come through nicely. This bottle was at the end of its aging curve, though; there may be some bottle variation to these, but I wouldn't hold this any longer. Looking back, I see that my last note on this was about the same, making me glad this was my last bottle.

February 13, 2013 - This was given about an hour standing open. The cork was perfect, but this bottle tasted noticeably older than one drunk six months ago. Nose of faded roses and a touch of honey; the same on the palate, with a hint of cherry as well. There seems to be some bottle variation on these, but even taking that into account this is nearing the end of its relatively short life. I have one more, and I plan to drink it within the next few months.
