  October 7, 2014 - Dark red, clear. Broad nose of blackberry, funk, black olive. Drying tannins and some acidity. Sour cherry, a bit medicinal, soy on the palate. Long finish. I'm not getting the pinot in this. A bit disappointing overall.

  January 2, 2013 - This wine pairs Sangiovese and Pinot Noir, two of my very favorite varietals. I have never had or even heard of such a blend, so I was very excited to try this one. Down the middle red in color. Nose of lush ripe red fruit. Very nice bold red fruit on the palate paired with the dry bitterness of the Sangiovese... the signature "Italian" note. The Pinot comes through in the finish with notes of ripe melon and dry grass. This would be 90-91 but I did detect a slight hint of funk. Would be willing to revise score if I had another bottle where this was missing. Also my score may be a bit high as I am partial to this producer and Italians in general.
