February 14, 2021 - Cork broke when opening, but wine seems fine! Herbal, bramble aromas with hint of dark red fruit - very broody. Very very dark garnet. Rich, big, bold flavors of roasted red fruits, cedar, smoke with hint of blackest licorice on the very long finish. Wow! Another Tobin bomb for sure. Will definitely overshadow the prime rib tonight.

April 19, 2014 - Dark ripe fruit, still very lively. Quite smooth, not overly sweet. Medium on the finish with lingering fruit on the back palate. Not your typical Tobin but the style still comes through.

October 15, 2013 - Followed for about four hours open and it did not change even a smidgen, as is typical for the Tobin style. In fact, this bottle is a very typical TJ: big and hot, slippery texture and big concentration held up with strong tannins and, in this case, decent acidity. Even some more complex, smoky notes than usual. Some of their wines are tedious, others are fun. This one's in the latter group. Dark as night. Big, zippy nose of bramble and fruit cocktail. Lengthy, hot finish with big umami influence. 4+11+16+8 = 89

August 27, 2013 - Dark cherry, moderate tannin. Touch of spice and good acidity. Very nuanced for Tobin James, a real winner

January 2, 2013 - Shared with four people at a party. Not sure I had enough. It was slightly fruity but not sweet.
