Community Tasting Notes 1

December 29, 2007 - Nose was smoked sausage, lead pencil, blackberry/raspberry, pomegranite, some citrus(?). It was immediately drinkakable, but the tannins were a little hard. After 30 minutes decanting, they softened and were well integrated. In addition, the nose took on some other characteristics: sugar cookies and a fresh air vegetable market. This wine's profile was complex and well balanced. The fruit grew quickly, plateaued and remained strong while the acidity grew slowly, eventually overtaking and creating a long finish. The tannins were very well integrated making themselves most notable on the roof of the mouth and sides of the tongue. The color was very dark ruby and consistent to the edges. We enjoyed with veal meatballs, spanish salami, goat cheese at Taberna de Haro in Brookline MA (www.tabernaboston.com). One dish had some medium hot chilis and the wine had no trouble holding it's own.
