April 12, 2024 - I think this may have been cooked, but oh well. PnP. Really advanced dark golden color. Muted aromatics.

September 19, 2021 - Full yellow. Yellow peach and a bit of almond on the nose. Fairly ripe and sweet for a Kabinett. Stone fruit, vanilla bean, spice, and soil with firm acidity and a late tropical fruit note. Very good.

Even more delicious and focused the second night

October 6, 2020 - deep, deep, gold. Petrol, toasted coconut. smooth on the palate with energetic acidity holding it together.

January 22, 2018 - Deep gold. Rock n roll. See last note with vanilla bean and a little nutmeg, pink grapefruit and nectarine. Mount Wratchet is picking up star fruit. I love this wine. More on the way.

May 6, 2017 - ultra ripe for a Kab but with bright acidity cutting through. Petrol, vaseline, rubber nose. So concentrated, bright, and fresh. Wow.

(von Othegraven Kanzem Altenberg Riesling Kabinett Erste Lage) ($34.00) More exotic than the Bockstein; more solid too, it stands up straighter (whereas the Bockstein just dances); maple-cured ham aromas, but with air this swells and broadens, and is just a stone’s flick from perfection; a glorious counterpoint of salts, minerals, fruits, dramatically saltier and more explicitly dialectical than Bockstein – longer also. Just perhaps not quite as adorable. **

(Weingut von Othegraven Riesling Kabinett Kanzemer Altenberg Erste Lage) After a pleasant, light, closed nose and a palate hinting at fruit salad, the finish is lingering and complex. Still somewhat wound up, but juicy, long, and balanced. The Saar: Forging Its Own Path
