March 5, 2022 - Opened approximately 1 hour prior to serving. Pours a purple tinged red with paling meniscus. Bramble and red cherry, forest floor, tree bark on the nose. Everything was very well integrated and balanced. The acidity was still present though the tannins were fading. Still, this remains exceptional and a fantastic example of the vintage.

November 9, 2014 - Opened approximately 2 hours prior to serving. This is still a baby, and as such, a little bit awkward. That said, it's got all the components present for some awesome development. Plenty of red and black fruit, firm tannins, forest floor, and great acidity. Just needs several more years in the cellar.

January 11, 2013 - Portland CellarTracker offline (Sauvage et Fausse Piste Winery, Portland, Oregon): Bright on the nose with pomegranate, roses, dried tarragon, stems and cherry top notes. Plenty of gleaming acidity, strawberry, cherry, loamy earth and minerals on the palate. Soft and lucid, intricately balanced with a slightly chewy finish. Needs time to integrate. Brilliant first release from a winemaker new to me.

February 23, 2012 - Opens with a bouquet of stems, cherry, cola, dried herbs, and a subtle medicinal note. I also detected a very slight volatile acidity angle, but it was fleeting and I didn't consider it a fault. It's hard to put into words but the stemmy quality mixed with the cola gives the wine a "young" feeling. On the palate, a light green-stem flavor frames notes of soil, red cherry, wild rasbperry, all bound by vibrant acidity. This is drinking beautifully right now with great mouthfeel and interesting complexity. I'm glad I have six more bottles.
