December 25, 2015 - Always one of my favorite wines, but big name from great vintage was kind of disappointing (if you can call 95 points disappointing). I expected everything, and got it, just a little less. Not as much of the fruit flavor that I like, but well balanced, deep, with good nose and reasonable finish. Maybe just a hair more muted than I'd hoped. Drank over two nights.

November 11, 2015 - Decanted for an hour and followed over two more. This tasted very mature with a nose or red fruit, cedar and dried herbs with these same elements plus a hint of soy sauce repeated on the palate. The fruit continued to slowly expand throughout the night. This bottle was not as youthful as bottles noted in many of the recent notes here or Shafer’s last retrospective booklet. It was still a pleasure-just more mature than some other bottles.

August 21, 2015 - I was a bit disappointed in this wine. My fiancee summed up the feeling when I told her how much it cost, "400 bucks? We could have drank a first growth for that!"

The nose was full of a melange of red fruit, cherry and strawberry, and more. There were hints of cigar and nori at points during the evening. However, for the most part, it was completely fruit driven and a little boring. The palate was similar. Very easy to drink to be sure, fully resolved tannins, balanced alcohol and acidity, and lots of fruit. But, where's the 99 Parker point wow factor? I didn't see it.

I've been tasting a large number of 1994 California Cabernet (Dalle Valle Cab and Maya, Caymus and Caymus SS, Araujo Eisele, Colgin Herb Lamb, Togni, Dunn, Mondavi, Montelena, etc) with this wine being the pinnacle of that series. I have to say, I am disappointed. I don't feel that these famous Napa Cabs are aging the way Bordeaux does, as in gaining more dimension and complexity. All I see is that the tannins go away and they get easier to drink.

August 1, 2015 - Reinterpreted Paris Tasting 'Best Bottle Circle' Style (Emmen, Switzerland): Clear deep red. Nose shows dark berry marmalade, chocolate and fine plum notes. Enormous power and complexity. Sweet, long. A true beauty. After tasting this one I had a big smile in my face.

April 16, 2015 - Cab & Cow Dinner (Vidalia - Washington DC): This does not appear to have a california nose. More like a french nose. This stills has a lot of power in it and will last many years.
