Community Tasting Notes 1

September 2, 2009 - 2 hour decant. Light ruby in color, going to a pinkish gold at the rim. Light, almost like a Pinot noir. Lots of earthy barrel notes on the nose, cherry fruit and a light burn of alcohol. Smells nice. In the mouth, still fairly tight, even after 2 hours in the decanter. The earthy barrel notes are also present here, but with some really sour cherry fruit and tannins jumping into the ring. Quite bitter on the finish, making this one hard to enjoy. I think it really needs food...or just more time.
