March 18, 2018 - Have had this in the cellar for a few years now and given it the cold shoulder for reasons unbeknownst. Perhaps the wax capsule was a deterrent, or the $20 WineBid price tag demoted my perception of its status? Anyway, this is NOT a $20 wine, either by way of SRP, or most importantly, quality. Confidently pays homage to CDP without losing its sense of California. The blending skill here is extraordinary -- the Grenache gives just enough of its spicy, sappy red fruitiness while remaining completely elegant and classy, and the Syrah and Mourvedre supply their own personality without being overbearing. The separate-but-together-ness of the varieties make for complexity and incredible balance. Texture is gorgeous at year eight -- silky with the tannins completely resolved. One of the best domestic GSMs I've ever had -- it's like the love child of Epoch and Chateau Beaucastel. Incredible.

May 18, 2017 - Found this in my cellar and decided to give it a try. Was pleasantly surprised with the smoothness and depth. Good fruit and mild tannins. Very drinkable and a nice example of a GSM. All present enjoyed it. Wish I had more.

March 4, 2017 - Fourth wine of the night. Very average. Not sure I get the Donelan wines.

February 10, 2017 - Not sure what to make of this wine. The first night I thought it was undrinkable but my wife enjoyed the acidity and edge. On night two the fruit was incorporated, the alcohol and tannins gone, and was a pleasant but not overly interesting wine.
