Community Tasting Notes 10

July 8, 2017 - Strange pink grapefruit fun-dip nose. Palate seems washed out without any of the interest or intensity the last bottle showed.

September 26, 2015 - Medium gold, mature. Rich nose of boiled sweets, orange, vanilla, honey. High acidity, low alcohol, orange, honey, toast, medium length. Very interesting and unique wine. Complex mix of oxidative flavour, fruit and freshness. Like an old style Rioja with high acidity. Very good.

January 2, 2015 - Dinner at Sun Wah (Sun Wah BBQ - Chicago, IL): Sensational bottle yet again. The intensity of the salinity here is really something...and I love salty wines! Along with the ocean-like flavor, this was brimming with tropical fruits. Namely, peaches, pineapple, and mango. My only gripe with this bottle is that I have a hard time finding some to buy.

January 2, 2015 - Dinner at Sun Wah (Chicago, IL): "This is just really awful stuff. It's like someone poured saltwater into your Raveneau. Why would you bother drinking that? Worse, it's like a madeira without the extra alcohol and all those rich caramel notes. What's the point? Let me help you with that bottle; yes, I'll take care of that for you... [yoink]." Intense apple cider and pineapple notes on the nose with the same intensity of the palate. So much saline, so much concentration, so much heft. But it all floats on ok...

November 27, 2014 - Kaleidoscopic nose; sherry, honey, ocean spray, mint lemonade, rubber, machine shop, quite bizarre. Despite this, the palate is a bit of a letdown with somewhat low acidity, very light texture, toothpaste, peach. Hard to interpret though no shortage of intrigue.
