Community Tasting Notes 4

October 15, 2012 - Gosh, is there anything more wonderful than digging a bottle out of storage that you never intended to store in the first place, and then finding it in an absolutely perfect place? This is about as classic as Chablis ever gets. The fruit is still bright, fresh, and pure, and frankly not showing any signs of age (nor of the 2003 vintage stereotype!) whatsoever, but what age has done to it is to bring out that telltale Kimmeridgian oyster shell character. It tastes like the sea.

October 12, 2006 - I'd forgotten I tasted this same wine at the domaine practically a year ago on the button. This time the minerality takes on a more pronounced flinty/gunpowder scent complemented by a sweeter aroma kind of like creme brulee without the brulee. The palate is lean, bordering on dilute, and goes down smoothly.

October 1, 2005 - Burgundy Summer Vacation 2005; 9/26/2005-10/3/2005: At Domaine des Malandes in Chablis. Not evidently a hot-vintage wine -- this is crisp and distinguished by aromas and finishing flavors that suggest chalk and mineral.
