Community Tasting Notes 9

  • Kriz Does not like this wine: 80 points

August 18, 2018 - It's not corked but you constantly have the idea it is... There is no fruit at all on the nose and the palate has that dry, irritating feeling on your cheeks. I threw it away, wine has to give pleasure, this does'nt. Maybe 80 points is overrated... An unpleasant 2009, unbelievable...

November 28, 2014 - Disappointing all around. Did not seem to have any depth of red fruits. Nothing really through the mid palate, and then finished with a level of bitterness that I have seen in some 2010 Bourgognes but not in many 2009s.

Perhaps it is just in a weird place right now.

A completely different read than from the first bottle I had two years ago.

On night two, after vacuum corking this noticeably improved. Not much change in the red fruits but a large decrease in the bitterness on the finish. It just may be in a strange sot and need quite a bit of air.

Bumped my score to the high 80s.

April 3, 2013 - Tried this with the 2010. The 2010 is better, but needs a few years. Bright red fruits on the nose. Raspberry, cranberry, as with many 09 CdB, with substantial oak. Red fruits and oak on the palate with a dry finish.

January 6, 2013 - Slight improvement. Quite soft. This is what's so interesting about Burgundy. Quicke change !!!

September 8, 2012 - Had this wine following a 1997 Volnay Santenots du Milieu so it presented quite a contrast. I did not record formal notes, but wanted to enjoy it in its moment. It had some richness of red fruits but with a young elegance that I quite enjoyed. Then it had a silky mouthfeel that led to a slightly smoky finish. I enjoyed it thoroughly and gives me great hope for what I have of 2009 Volnays and encourages me to seek out others.
