May 1, 2023 - I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, and I am glad I waited to age it a few years, allowing some of its intensity to mellow and integrate. A nice blend of savory elements and fruit.

Too much alcohol for my current preferences, but to be fair it was well-integrated and not a detraction while drinking with food.

Quality fruit and winemaking on display.

November 22, 2020 - In case anyone is wondering how this is holding up. Just freaking amazingly well. Drank over 3 hours after a 45 min decant. This one was built to last for sure. Good to the last drop. This is a one and done unfortunately for me. I was lucky enough to find it at McCarthy and Schiering wine back i the Summer of 2013 I think.

April 24, 2018 - Monthly Men's Wine Dinner (Polaris restaurant at the Bellevue Club): This did not taste like a Syrah to me but it was pure, focused and fruity. On the other end of the Washington Syrah spectrum from Cayuse for sure. I continue to be impressed by Avennia's wines, especially for the price. My #3 of 6 and the group's #3 as well.

July 10, 2017 - Ran through the Menu decanter. Really big, full bodied wine, with killer blackberry and plum fruit, cracked pepper, saddle leather, and vanilla. Touches of oak showing, but quite pleasant. Drink now - 2025.

(Avennia Arnaut Syrah Boushey Vineyard Yakima Valley) A dark, glass staining wine. Compelling aromas of mineral, blueberry, cherry, and bacon fat. The palate is silky and textured, bright and lively with sappy, tart fruit flavors and a light peppery streak. Displays the freshness of the 2010 vintage. 100% Syrah. Boushey Vineyard. Aged 16 months in French oak (20% new). 15% whole cluster with native yeast. 15.1% alcohol. 170 cases produced.
