December 25, 2014 - PnP. Closed down and harsh at first. Opened up somewhat during the night. Cool fruit and pepper notes. Good concentration. Needs time or a very long decant.

November 30, 2014 - Not at all appealing on day one. Showed considerably better on day two. Nice fruit and finesse. Drinking window will open soon, I guess.

November 12, 2014 - Fabulous wine! No wonder Wine Spectator made this their #2 wine in 2012. Complex, well made, a lot going on with a variety of flavors if you have the patience to pick them out. Ready to drink now

November 2, 2014 - Considering the high praise from WA & WS I was let down. No where near the same league as the last bottle of Valbelle I had. Blackberry, dark, briery, tannic, too young

August 31, 2014 - Compared to competition not in class, this wine was third when it should have been at least a second place contender. This wine just didn't show well tonight. Uncorked to a darker cherry stain, this wine poured probably one of the thickest of the night, but compared to an 09 O'Shaughnessy Veeder and a 2011 Spoto Reserve, this wine was destined for third place. This wine tonight just didn't have the fruit in the front. The opening was definitely acidic, and the finish had some mild to moderate tannicity, but the wine itself seemed to lack character and density that other notes have noticed thus far. This wine tonight gets an 88-89 from me, but my rating of NR tonight is because I think I caught this wine at an "off" time. Still have 7 left, so there will be plenty of time for this one to come back around as I still believe the longevity of this one is to 2025 at least.
