February 16, 2014 - Very surprising, based on price and other wine tasted from this producer. Approachable right from the pop, but after a few hours of air it started to sing. No Morvedere listed on the back label, and the wine is a bit cleaner because of it. No noticeable oak on the nose, but rather some deep fruit, and some floral undertones. The pallet is silky with tannin that sneaks up, and nice cassis, plum, and a stony minerality, which I guess must be from the old vines. Good job, and more proof that Gigondas delivers some good juice at undervalued pricing.
