Community Tasting Notes 5

March 14, 2015 - Heavy petrol on the nose like many rieslings. Bright and still fresh on the palate with lemon standing out.

October 17, 2014 - Grass, floral and honey suckles. The palate is a bit bitter and uninspiring. Nose much better and the last bottle was better than this. Past peak.

January 24, 2014 - Heavy floral on the nose with minerals and kiwi. On the palate nice complexity with lemon, kiwi, floral, spices and pear. Very nice fruit driven wine and smooth. Drink now.

November 20, 2012 - Had to grab one of these when I saw it at Bottle Barn - never did get to try the 2010.

It seemed just the tiniest bit austere at first opening, but with some air, and a bit warmer, shone as a excellent representation of a solid GB.

The initial bright, austere ness wasnt a slam, I'll take a lean GB over a slutty flabby one any day.
As a vintner and passionate consumer of GB, I don't give praise for this varietal easily.

Its a different style then what I seek to accomplish with Two Shepherds GB, perhaps why I like this so much, its well made with good contrast.

Fresh, bright, vibrant, not as nuanced as TS, but thats what makes it different and great.

Nose is vibrant lemon zest. green apple. hint of wet stone.
The front palate is full of citrus, the mid palate has nice stone fruits, the finish is lingering, with notes of minerality, salinity.

Well done. Have to see if Shane will share vinification notes sometime.
If you have some, its obviously wonderful now, but likely will gain complexity and minerality with bottle aging.
(although its screw cap, so maybe not.)

July 7, 2012 - I really dug this wine - had tropical notes, minerality, and acidity to balance it all out. Shane's notes posted here are pretty much spot on.
