June 2, 2020 - This is a beautiful wine. At age 9 this wine is completely youthful and pale in color. Acid and sugar in perfect balance. Although lightly sweet, it is not cloying and very refreshing. The nose is tropical with a hint of fossil fuel that is part of ripe Riesling. This is an excellent wine for Asian food like Chinese, curries, Thai, spicy cuisines and even sushi. This Kabinett will last for years to come and will transform its character to become more golden and more interesting while giving up some freshness.

December 22, 2017 - Petrol for days. Lemon rind, white flower... lots of high toned notes. In a good place, but still seems like upside potential

November 13, 2015 - Wonderful wine. Off dry but well balanced with acidity. Clean fresh and with tropical fruits. Quite a bit of minerality and wet stone quality. A bit of turpine which is new. This wine will be drinking well for another five years easily. A great kabinett. Use it for German dishes, smoked meats, port dishes or with a smoked salmon appetizer.

May 31, 2014 - This is in a great spot right now. Drinks more like a Spatlese but that's okay. Acid, citrus fruit, stone fruit, and some minerality. Drink now.

August 19, 2012 - Filled out wine, soft, wish it had more acid as there's more sugar here than I expected. Lime, pineapple, slate, agave, something herbal I can't quite put my finger on. Good, not great.

(Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett) ($20.00) It showed a green catty aroma that recalled what I’ve come to think of as the ladybug smell. What’s below it is good, if a little tannic; I allowed for a freshly-bottled wine, but this is one to watch warily if hopefully, I’d say. I’ll taste it again when you do, in late June.
