61 years is a long time in half bottle, and I’m afraid the patient didn’t make it. Black plum edging to prune, some barnyard, definite ashtray note. C+

February 25, 2017 - Wonderful mature margaux. Upon opening, the nose was mute and the fruit was non-existent on the palate. I could taste tomato juice and copper pennies. Within a half an hour, however, the fruit emerged and the remaining tannins unfolded giving the wine both depth and structure. Nothing overly complex, but lovely charcoal, dark fruit, and wet earth were present. Floral notes wafted up from the glass but found no place in the taste or the finish. Very enjoyable. Well-stored bottles are a go to treat.

April 3, 2016 - bottle and fill excellent, there was some slight seepage under the capsule and the cork moved easily and was extracted intact, Medium deep color, very promising nose initially, it was decanted and came around fairly quickly being elegant and delicious after 1 hour, Soft Margaux perfume, Bordeaux earth, aged black berry. Sublime.

March 30, 2014 - Ox, tart, some forest floor -- but actually too old.
