Community Tasting Notes 8

October 22, 2016 - At first the wine shows it is serious, dark, full in mouth. The nose is a metal bucket of hairy crimson fruit. Texture is velvet not silk. Not an elegant wine, it is charming in its brutality - like the scruffy brother in law in Christmas Vacation, as should all Gamay Noir be. But here in Moulin A Vent the Manganese may explain why I taste galvanized metal bucket in the medium length. What food does this go with? I had lasagne. After the food was gone, I kept drinking this down past the shoulders and it got better, as others have said, into day 2. Not crossing the vaunted 90's in score, as it was impressive but not seductive.

December 10, 2014 - Not decanted. Pungent red raspberry/currant, nice texture, has the mouthfeel consistency of watercolor paint. Can only improve with more bottle age. Drink now-2020.

August 4, 2014 - or even higher. Already approachable.

July 28, 2014 - Still very young - better on night 2 and pretty full bodied for a Gamay. Cranberry, dark cherry & minerality on nose & palate. Went well with burgers & pizza. 90-91 range.

November 3, 2013 - Im still looking for Thanksgiving 2013 wine for this year. If i had the patience, i would buy 6 of these for next year. Opened a bit tight, but with 15mins of air improved. Lovely on the palate, but the tannins are a little too dry right now.
