Community Tasting Notes 20

August 2, 2023 - Deep yellow in color with some gold hues.
On the nose this wine shows a complex array of notes that lead off with toasted almond, brioche, roasted marshmallow, lemon curd, vanilla crème brûlée, clove and nutmeg spice, caramelized apples and nectarine with notes of dried white flowers, autumn leaves, dried orange peel and beeswax.
On the palate rich and fleshy with a suppleness that comes balanced by the acidity. Warm baking spices lace the palate as the flavors follow the notes from nose with a butterscotch and honeyed almond streak. The finish lingers pleasantly.
This wine has cellared well but well within its drinking window.

July 13, 2019 - drank this wine first with Tor himself during a tasting a few years ago and commented that it would be very interesting to see how this wine evolved over the next 5 years.

What we found in the bottle was a deep yellow, buttery and slightly honeyed chard. It had an intriguing scent, somewhat floral, with incense. Rather lighter than I expected, perhaps because of the Sonoma pedigree but had all the hallmarks of a polished, oaked, malo fermented Cali chard. It was very integrated, with balanced oak but rather shy on the fruit side - leaning more to minerality (although this was no Burgundy).

July 29, 2017 - Really well made. Notable cedar wood dominated the mid palette. Apricot nut aromas with marshmallow flavor. Tremendous !

July 25, 2017 - Really aging well. This wine has awesome notes described well by CT member SUBURBANFROG. I thought his notes were spot on. Still tasting them tonight.

July 8, 2017 - 1st wine of the night. This was PnP and served chilled.

Starts with a very restrained nose which did not open for an hour. You could sense the depth of flavors which started off muted and took some time to reveal themselves. Initially butterscotch, which led to peach and melon. Creamy mouthfeel with very well balanced acidity and fruit. Long finish with lingering flavors of lemon peel and honeysuckle melon.

Quite a rich and abundant wine.
