April 4, 2016 - I made a mistake opening this wine today. (It's 4/4/2016) While the aromatics have really developed nicely, the texture of the wine is in an awkward phase. It has lost its youthful vibrancy but has not yet moved into its aged velvety phase yet. It's in this in-between limbo that leaves the wine feeling a little dead and flat on the palate. It's certainly no fault of the wine itself - just poor decision on my part. If you have any of this wine in your cellar my advice is to hold. If I could have this wine back, I'd write "2020" on it and fuhgettaboutit.

On the nose: fruit cake, gingerbread, christmas spice, cocoa dust, and dried orange peel.

On the palate: thin, undeveloped secondary notes that hint toward perhaps developing into a nice cranberry compote with a smokey beef jerky finish.

Rated for its potential, not its current state.

December 22, 2015 - Impressively agile, [sizable but] balanced, and deep. Cranberries, Dr Pepper, smoke, and spice. Round chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon tail. Softened and unified a tad over the last two years.

A Little more on the nose and this would get an even higher score.

Great time to be drinking these, with a few good years ahead. -2018

March 22, 2015 - A beautiful wine. This is drinking really well, and I wish I had held my previous bottle for a few more years.

December 27, 2014 - On the more modern end of the spectrum, with big, bold flavors of blackberries, cherries and sweet spice, with a fairly plush and concentrated mouthfeel that is nonetheless balanced with some decent acidity and a touch of earthiness that adds some character

November 2, 2014 - Similar notes to previous bottle, but I think this one benefitted from a bit more time and a little more air.
