September 5, 2019 - Powerful wine, but doesn't feel as it's pumped up from a warm year, more methods doing work here with cold soak, pumping over and a touch of new wood. Good fruit, nice acidity, seriously mineral and all in all very good. However, I can live with a bit of make-up tastewise from new wood, but would be very happy to get away from slightly woody tannins. Balance would've been better without it.

September 23, 2018 - Dark garnet color. No brick. Lovely nose of cherry tart leather licorice. Body is red fruits wrapped in firm tannins. Good acidity. Medium finish. This is a great exemplar of a Brunello in its drinking window. Needs food to be entirely in its element to tame the tannins. A great deal wish I bought more than 2 drink my next over the next few years but no rush.

July 27, 2017 - Visited the vineyard yesterday and tried out the latest vintages, couldn't help leaving the gorgeous family farm with a 07 in the bag. Like many Brunellos, this one needs bottle time and lots of air. The 07 shows a broader spectrum on the nose with mocca, chocolate, nougat, tar, prunes, cloves and dark cherries. Still fresh and full of life, excellent balance and acidity. Get the feeling the 07 has entered the peak drinking window but has many years left of excellent pleasure.

December 23, 2016 - Day later from memory. Maybe the best bargain for a cab-a-phobe on the list at the Smith and Wollensky pub, which was so rowdy at noon yesterday with drunken holiday revelers that it was impossible to have a conversation about anything. Gigantic list of California wines that made my heart sink until I found this. In absolutely beautiful shape, both bold and refined somehow. Rich red fruits and great mouthfeel until we hit the toothpacking tannins-this is traditional all the way-no sacrifice to international appeal that I could tell. Decanting softened the flavors a bit but not those big-time tannins. I really liked it and it gave me something to chew on since talking was almost pointless.

May 7, 2016 - Bad bottle - oxidized. Hope this is isolated to this one.
