April 1, 2022 - Festa del Piemonte: Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): Another wine that I would describe as a bit tired when originally poured. It is not quite as vibrant as the Francesco (although I'm almost positive he used to mix Barbera with his wines back in the 60's because the ones I've had from the 60's are always much younger than you might think). With some time it starts to open and becomes a bit more elegant and refined. I think in retrospect could have used a long decant and a strain.

January 31, 2020 - La Festa del Barolo Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): It's hard to believe this wine is gearing up to celebrate its 60th birthday. It is still going very strong and this seemed to be a particularly perfect bottle of it. It's the freshness that jumps out. Fruit still there. Wine still going strong. That classy style that is just a hint lighter on the palate and yet still full of complexity. Very enjoyable.

October 31, 2019 - The nose was amazingly primary, yet certainly mature, showing dusty dried florals, earthy minerality, and savory spice with crushed dried raspberry and cherry. On the palate, zesty dried fruits and spice saturated the senses, while brisk acids brought vibrancy and minerals which settled in over moist earth tones. The finish was long, as dark red fruits lingered amidst drying savory earth, minerals and inner florals. It's amazing how youthful this bottle was showing.

October 19, 2019 - The nose showed masses of minerals and earth tones up front, as hints of dried red fruits, plum, and sweet crushed tomato developed in the glass. On the palate, I found a soft expression, lifted by brisk acids, with a twang of savory herbs, which lifted and cooled the ‘61s tart red berry fruit. The finish was medium in length, focused on minerals and spice with hints of zesty acids resonating throughout.
