July 11, 2023 - Worlds Best Vineyards 2023, 2nd evening hosted at Riscal.

Pale garnet, with large water white rim. The nose is very much on the tertiary notes, leather but still some hints of dried red fruit. Tobacco. Slight celery note. Tarry smoky notes.

Really soft palate, soft tannins so well integrated. Incredible length, at least 3 mins. Amazingly fresh and still relatively youthful.

Rapidly changing in the glass. Not one to decant or to leave too long in the glass. It’s evolving and fading in the glass.

November 12, 2016 - Some barnyard, but overall the same subdued and fragile character as '64. Sweet and relatively fruity even, some leather, some mushrooms.

    75% tempranillo, 15% cabernet sauvignon, 5% graciano, 5% mazuelo - 12.2% vol.

April 2, 2012 - Tasting event with Artadi's Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle (Monvinic (Barcelona)): This was the "surprise" of the tasting, as the wine was listed but not its vintage. Fisrt thing that shocks it's the color. It's way darker than expected. Medium to light ruby-red color with brown flashes. Very subtle on nose, some fruit, dried herbs, leather, blue chesse. Palate it's remarkable, mature blue cheese, mineral, metallic taste, light, smooth, medium acidity, medium finish. I was amazed and thankful to be able to taste a truly old wine, my first experience with old Riojas. Very interesting and for the wine itself, mature, well aged but still seemed it could hold a bit more.
