Community Tasting Notes 3

March 6, 2017 - Bottle has clear signs of seepage. Cork broke in half and was super spongy, poor quality seal.

The nose shows a lot of oak, with a charry note sticking out. Something porty and raisined suggests the wine hasn't had the best storage conditions.

Flavours are similar. It does show the delicacy of chambolle underneath, although the obvious oak adds plushness and 'sauce' that distracts a fair bit for a village wine. And given the context of 2007, it actually tastes riper than expected.

Taken as any pinot it's ok despite its modern winemaking, taken as a chambolle, it's not quite up to my expectations even at the village wine level.

Meh. It's weeknight and I'm drinking a chambolle. Life isn't too bad I have to admit.

    Drink or hold.

February 28, 2017 - Cork showed signs of seepage. Cork stuck to neck, broke when pulled out.

While the nose exhibits a slightly stewed fruit characteristic, the flavours are light and slightly muted. Finish is a touch prickly. Not certain about the storage conditions on this one, so please bear that in mind.

Drink or hold, even if this bottle is questionable, the fruit was still at the fore.

April 5, 2012 - Langton's Cellar Club 4 April 2012 (Roof Terrace Australian Museum): Ruby. On the nose it's farmyard funk, earth, red fruit, leather and slight metallic notes. In the mouth medium plus acidity, warm long finish...savoury, earthy, gritty and, perhaps, a touch too warm on the finish.
