December 23, 2022 - Wisened aromas of old brick, lemonade, thyme. Quite tasty and complex. Savory and meaty. I'm getting hints of salty Proscuitto on the finish. Drink up.

March 11, 2011 - Another nice rendition of this tasty italian cabernet. Dry, but with enough sweet cabernet fruit to be drinkable without food - but this wine shone with some food - acidity great to balance and enough complexity to be a great match. Glad to have two bottles of the 2003.

February 27, 2011 - This would have been better if not affected by Brett. It showed a mix of fruits going all the way from red to prune, pulled in herbal scents, and had enough acidity to keep it fresh.
For me, the Brett spoiled it, but others drank it up without comment.
Maybe I'm over sensitive. In any case, I won't be buying from this producer again. Out of four bottles, one was corked, one was a mess of an over-ripe 2003,
one was enjoyable, and this one was barely drinkable.

October 22, 2010 - I enjoyed this. Showing quite a dark brick rim, although the colour is still very dark. The nose is pretty intense, with lots of dried herbs, licourice, tar and stewed dark plums. Very complex and interesting. Palate is more of the same, shows nice dry currant and plum fruit, lots of dried herbs and tar - but retains a nice cabernet profile. Medium finish. Overall very nice, but probably peak drinking. For the money - a very nice purchase.

(Villa la Selva SELVAMAGGIO) Poggio Antico et al Dear Friends, Just confirmed, two Tuscan wines at basically half price. Yes, the Poggio Antico is 2003, but it's much less than $30-35 - it's also a lot better than people may expect. For the price of a generic Chianti Classico, I think you may want to give this a try. In addition, we had such a big response to the Selvamaggio offer a few days ago that I asked them for an older vintage and they've obliged...at a crazy price. 1999 was an excellent year in Tuscany, so this is not a cast-off vintage like 2002. Both are set to arrive in a few weeks with impeccable provenance - both will ship in the spring. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price: 2003 Poggio Antico Rosso di Montalcino (Sangiovese Grosso) 1999 Villa la Selva "Selvamaggio" (Cabernet Sauvignon) EXTREMELY LIMITED Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy6588 Italy6589 Click
