September 17, 2016 - Surprisingly still on the ruby red side. I was expecting a bit more darkening/garnet because of the age. Translucent. No sediment.
Nice medium aromas of ripe cherries and plums, licorice and earthiness. Some tar as well.
Medium bodied with a nice seam of acidity. No tartness like many Valpols, but still juicy. Nice freshness, beautifully balanced and complex. Dried cherries, red fruits and plums repeat, with an array of kitchen spices and tobacco. Bit of tea leaf and herbal character on a medium length finish. Its like an Amarone without the sweetness, the density/thickness and alcohol. Slight tannic drying. But overall this wine could age much longer. I have some bottles left so it will be interesting to follow the progression.
One of the better Valpols I have ever had (maybe a Romano Dal Forno and Quintarelli place above it). Wonderful wine. So enjoyable. Drank like a glass of water ..... effortless and smooth and tasty. -

February 21, 2015 - Completely flat and muted upon opening. After two hours of slow-o, it came to life singing. Color is dark purple and brick, slow and clear legs, no sediment.
Bright floral nose with mineral undertones. A bit of cigar and pencil. Generous acidity and feminine tannins. Did not hold up all that well on day 2, so decant and drink up. Good complexity and class for the money. 5+11+17+8= 911 person found this helpful Comment -

December 17, 2014 - PnP. Faint cherry & spice on the nose.
Single note of tart cherries. Medium and drying tannins. Short finish.1 person found this helpful Comment -

November 11, 2014 - Consumed over 3-4 days, seemed to lose some of it's initial juicy ripeness over that time and show a bit more secondary flavors and complexity. Very good wine that will continue to drink well through 2017+.
