June 29, 2013 - Dark red-black. Old fashioned aroma, not hinting towards gloopy at all: black pepper, blackberry, thyme, no oak. Repeat - no oak. Lovely. Medium tannin on entry, smoothed but persistent; still a young wine's palate. Flavors match the nose, with some added dark dried sour cherry. Finishes with persistent smooth, medium tannin. Hard to find the style elsewhere. Bottle #4 of four.

March 12, 2013 - 16 years of age and this wine is not even a bit tired; plenty of life left. Very aromatic nose of blackberry, dark cherry, fennel, anise, cigar box and earth. Beautifully balanced, full, complex flavors, moderate tannin but the finish is somewhat short; my only disappointment. Wish I had more of these to age further! Overall, an outstanding wine

October 4, 2009 - Bought this at the winery tasting room upon it's release in 2003. He holds them that long. The winemaker, Dan Teldeschi told us it would last forever. Of course, we don't have forever, so we let it age 12 years. He was right. This is not a wine for every one. It is not a fruit bomb. It is still pretty youthful, has a tight core with lots of tannin and acid, that you have to taste through. Swirling and splashing really opens things up. The color is not just dark, it is black. The nose is more spicy and fruity. The blackberry and blueberry fruit are super concentrated, and just now thinking about breaking loose from the structure. This wine is rich and balanced now, I'm sure it was a bruiser in it's youth. The finish is heavy duty and earthy.
