November 21, 2019 - Bordeaux Wine School - Pairing with Peranakan Cuisine (National Kitchen by Violet Oon): Deep ruby. Aromas of cherry, peat, grass, and rose petals. An inky feel, red cherry, brambles, and rose, grass, tomato, some leather and roast meats

Deep ruby colour.
Medium aromatic intensity. Aromas of ripe red and black plum, ripe red cherry with a floral note such as violet. Also clove, star anise, cedar wood and beginnings of dried cherry and savoury aromas.
The palate is dry with medium acidity, medium (+) alcohol, high tannins which are ripe but slightly coarse and granular. Full-bodied with medium (+) flavour intensity. Flavours of ripe black plum, ripe black cherry, violet, clove, star anise, cedar wood. Dried cherry and savoury notes are more noticeable on the palate than nose which develop on a Medium (+) finish.
This is of very good quality. The higher level of alcohol is balanced-out by the good concentration of flavours. The flavours are well-defined, showing complexity across primary, secondary and tertiary clusters and develop on a good finish. However, the wine is not overly complex and the tannins are quite drying and create an overly austere wine which in an oustanding example would be better integrated and harmonious. Because the palate is quite drying, this wine is suitable to drink not but not suitable for further ageing to retain more balance with the remaining primary, fleshy fruit. -

July 7, 2016 - Classical Pomerol, not overly oaked and with a nice equilibrium of dark red fruits. Sure, it lacks some depth and length, but still, this is very nicely done. Ready to drink imho
