May 17, 2024 - Nez de fumée, huile, abricot, paille séchée... Très belle acidité, gras pomme jaune.

I had no clue what it could be, I guessed Burgundy and much younger. The wet stones which I normally smell were in the background. I thought about a white Rioja, some people at the table thought Northern Rhone. No fruit, saline with a long and precise finish, no citrus. Refreshing acidity. 96-97

As the red one from this vintage in great shape and balance. Far away from his end. We guessed all younger. Wet stones, some green notes and with salivating acidity. Love it. 98

January 15, 2022 - From a perfect bottle purchased on release, this wine had a light gold center with clear rims. If a bottle shows an amber center, it had problems along the way.

The high- intensity nose was impressive right off the bat. It featured mellon, lemon, candle wax, almond paste, and minerals. In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe with blazing acidity. As the wine aired the acidity became less intense and more defuse but still lovely. It was gorgeously balanced and very long.

This wine has arrived at it apogee but will remain at this level for 10 years or so (if well stored). If you like tertiary notes maybe it lasts longer? Amazingly, while this went through several up and down cycles, it was best after 6 hours of air. A very impressive Sauvignon Blanc!

September 26, 2021 - Splendid Laville in the ultra subtle style. Deep amber robe. Soft and gentle; truth be told a little low in acid and a bit high in alcohol. No matter. A myriad of scents, from dried apricot to cinnamon to nutmeg to ginger to honey. Relatively viscous. Changes by the minute. Why does Laville (usually) age better than the mighty Haut-Brion Blanc?
