May 5, 2024 - Ouch, the flavors and aromas are starting to fade, so typical of a California Bordeaux blend wine (they just don't hold for more than 20 years). That is my problem here, I have now consumed my first Promontory from my cellar and that is my first impression, my mistake. The garnet color and slow legs on the glass were inviting, with the aromas of blackberry and fig. This is a full body wine with a silky texture and long finish, however all of these are beginning to fade (yes, wine is stored properly in my cellar). The flavors of blackberry and fig were tasted (but beginning to fade). We both noticed that the alcohol content was elevated and noticeable. I suggest drinking this wine now and within the next 2 years.

September 2, 2023 - dense and intense. Black cherries, eucalyptus and cassis. Tannins are still very pronounced and need more time to mellow. This is drinking quite nicely, though, with the fruit and acidity standing up to the tannins most of the time.

November 12, 2022 - Still youthful and plenty of upside. 8 hour slow ox followed by 2 hours in decanter. Each glass was better than previous Notes of graphite and sweet vanilla. Amazing tension, long mouthfeel. Stunning wine which will keep improving.

August 22, 2022 - Needs plenty of time to decant. If you can be patient it’s a 100-pointer.

April 4, 2022 - Decanted to serve. Big napa wine with so much finesse and elegance without being overwhelming. Beautiful wine.
