November 19, 2023 - Almost 9 months later, this is now just about a full yellow colour. The pineapple theme is obvious from the start, though this time it's joined by nutty rather than buttery notes. After an hour, there are suggestions of lime, so maybe this wine is developing more quickly than I thought in 02.2023. Lovely and filling entry of pungent, yet ripe-harvest-sweet and luscious yellow fruit. Medium-bodied and building not only in length, but also in the persistence of that lovely sweetness. This bottle is better than VG+ and is fine.

February 28, 2023 - Over two days. Medium to fullish yellow. Spicy and buttery pineapple alternates with minor grapefruit on the nose. Some fruit candy later on. Medium bodied, spicy and powerful, dry (12.5% is the alcohol volume), very clearly Rheingau and loaded with lots of pungent spicy pineapple flavours showing a nice sweetness before the crescendo of the spice-filled finish.

On the 2nd day, from a half-bottle, the nose is more spicy and driven by grapefruit and lime, rather than pineapple. In the mouth, there is now a kiss of sweet fruit on the front before the pungent and spicy middle, with a more lingering sweetness before the spicy finish. No decay.

Very good plus on both days and should see 20 years.
