November 25, 2021 - Sulfur on the nose upon opening, blew off and was good in 30 minutes, after 2 hours it was just barely a hint of funk, nice blackberry and blueberries, grilled beef, herbs and black cherry. From a three liter

November 25, 2021 - (From 3L) Espresso, chocolate, cigar box, dark blackberry, raspberry, açaí, light olive, black cherry, black pepper, bacon fat and meat. Love it. Less funky than your average Cayuse. Large format clearly helped.

December 13, 2020 - Solid Cayuse, but not one of his best. Latter part of drinking window.

April 6, 2019 - This was drinking nicely -- though I think I may prefer the 04 En Chamberlin to this, which surprises me. Some nice funk, and lovely complex aromatics -- though not as complex as some of the best I have had from this vineyard.

July 5, 2018 - Popped and poured on a Thursday night, we've pulled a couple of cases of older Cayuse to taste through in the coming months.

This 2004 Armada Syrah was singing right from the get go, no decanting needed. Slightly subdued nose, faint ripe plums and rocky notes. Red berries, minerals and prolific gravelly notes abound in this wine. Acidity is still present but receding into the background at this point, tannins are fine and silky smooth. Finish lasts for well over a minute. For those who like aged wine this Armada Syrah is phenomenal at this point, but I would drink soon!
