Community Tasting Notes 1

December 30, 2013 - Closed and awkward acidity on the first day. Much better on the second day: bacon, plum, bell pepper and paprika on the nose. Spicy onset with some alcohol and dark fruit; high acidity breaks through from the mid-palate; medium finish with a small amount of rather firm tannins. Nicely evolved flavors on the palate but the structure is rustic. I wouldn't call it unbalanced, but each sip seems dominated by either the acids, alcohol or spiciness. These components just don't seem very well integrated, but this also makes the wine interesting to me because it produces a certain tension on the palate.
