January 14, 2012 - This is showing well now and I'm guessing will hold for several more years. I couldn't detect any of the 2004 green meanies in this wine. It has aged into a nicely balanced, elegant wine. I got more dark cherry and black fruit flavors. My biggest rap on this wine would be that it has an ordinary nose. A Kermit Lynch import.

April 20, 2010 - Beautiful clear red with a bit of sediment - btw who thought that red wax over the cork was a good idea? I made a huge mess getting that off - at least Makers Mark has a nice little tab to pull - honestly. Subtle nose with hints of spice and strawberry pie. Strawberry jam flavors (I need some toast asap) and nice acidity. Lovely addition to dinner and I would buy this again.

June 9, 2009 - The nose is deeply of cherries, cloves and black pepper, something slightly candied, and though there's definitely a bit of alcohol on the nose, it's still lovely in a kind of velvety way (I swear that aromas can seem "textured" sometimes. This one is).
In the mouth there are bright, tart cherries up front, some under-ripe blackberries as well, a slight dip on the midpalate, but a nice long finish with spices coming to the party. It is a touch hot on the palate as well, but nothing food couldn't take care of.
