Community Tasting Notes 1

March 11, 2013 - Decanted 90 mins. ahead, then swirled & sipped in the glass for 30 mins more. Intense black ruby color. Nice nose of plums, black cherries, smoke, black pepper. Solid and firm on the palate, medium-bodied and very dry, with flavors of coffee and plums. Finishes with mouth-coating velvety tannins and a hint of orange peel. A bit forbidding at first, this wine, like Lady Gaga, was Born This Way. It's reserved and does not necessarily want to seduce you. It could stand some bottle age, but its current richness also encourages me to enjoy it now because it's well-made and definitely interesting. Give it some air and a juicy steak.
