February 1, 2023 - Opened and decanted too late! Again!
    Ruby Garnet
    Tannin, structure
    Cabernet notes.
    Earth. Meat.

Nothing much to scribe here that I didn't recently, other then to say this wine is better now than it will be in a year or two or 5.
But, I scored it without looking at the last bottle... And came to virtually the same place.

I should have opened the more recent vintage for comparison. Maybe tomorrow.

This is great wine! Have had it about 2 decades. Lucky not to have left it too long!

    PS- Drink the Rainbow!

December 24, 2022 - Spain connected Cabernet? Who knew it could be "this" good!
I've another bottle, so before I get to googly eyed about it, I'll defer until BBQ season.
I'll not have this past September, though I expect it could last another half decade.
(But yet again, why drink it past it's prime now, never mind 5 years from now?)

    Cabernet Sauvignon 100%
    14% abv

Anyway, this is a Cabernet thru and thru. Even at this age, it's showing all the Cabernet fruit characters, thick blackberry plus more earthy, leathery, vanilla-y, peppery... All of those "y's".

It's old and layered and awesome. It takes your mind to many other Cabernets in the vault and slots itself into that place of " I found something special, even if I thought opposite when opening it"

This wine is really well made!
And yes, I'm very surprised, very excited to experience something I've held for so long. It's the reason we collect. And it shows up at the most faaaabulouuuussssss times of the year

TBC - there's some left in the decanter
Moved this from 88 to 92
Deep dark garnet intensity. Blackberries and jam, smoked cedar and tobacco.
Dry. Medium acid and High alcohol remains.
Full body, and long 60 second+ finish
These already soft tannins are present, continue to resolve and will ensure additional longevity of this wine.
That said... It is drinking most impressively right now!

Again, this was an amazing wine!

And with that, I've just ordered a case of 2015.
Who knows what it holds, but if this 2000, which sat in my cellar for 18 years, is any indication, maybe it can "be a case" of history repeating itself!

BTW - this would be a GREAT BLIND TASTING SAMPLE, as the bottle shape, if only slightly larger than the norm, is that of Burgundy.
It will definitely toss a little doubt into the minds of many! And, the bottle's content will not be far afield from a left bank Bordeaux, nor a ripe higher alcohol Napa cab! Let the fun and games begin!

    PS- Drink The Rainbow!

December 25, 2015 - On the nose subtle cassis with a bit of earthy notes. Medium bodied, very smooth and supple, still going strong, tannins partly resolved, delivering slightly matured dark fruit and cassis notes with a discreet earthy or funky aspect. Beautifully aged and has some years ahead.
