    November 26, 2016 - Drinking probably at peak right now, perhaps a little on the youthful side of peak. But, this wine was pretty much good to go right from the moment the cork was popped, and I drank damn near the entire bottle. Definitely 92 range, if not 93 based on this experience. Right after cork pop, there was an oaky, blackberry-esque type of note. Now, this didn't seem to have as much power on the nose as I would have expected it to have, but the nose did seem like it was mature and ready to go. On the palate is a medium-to-full bodied wine. Not exactly the most robust as I would expect from the flagship Pahlmeyer, but had blackberry, cola, saddle leather, and even a slight hint of mocha moving to the middle. The wine had a very neutral mouthfeel without the silky feeling and without a ton of acid. There was a hint of herb in the middle. Finish showed integrated tannin and just enough black pepper that it went well with the eclectic group of foods that it was supposed to complement. Nice bottle, and might I say as one that usually likes to drink wines a little past peak, that this bottle was very satisfying a little on the other side.

    July 17, 2016 - A big wine. Double aerated half hour before first sip and the nose was dominated by alcohol at first. Once it settled down, the abundant fruit showed up, with some nice secondaries too (baking spice, dried herbs, toasted vanilla, coffee). The fruit carries the palate, with a hint vegetal greeness that adds dimension. The finish is the slightest bit medicinal, otherwise this gets a couple more points, but I think a couple years will resolve that.
