This was a very nice dolcetto, fresh with that bitter twist to the end, nice midweight wine to have with almost anything you like. But pair it with italian regional dishes for best effect. Nice black cherry, had a nice clean nose with that slight evergreen hint.

October 31, 2013 - Served this up with pizza while the kids went out trick or treating. This had a bright, sharp feel when first opened, with a piney or evergreen hook (nice call by RJ on the juniper berry). I wish I had served this with something more complex, because it cries out for sipping and tasting from different things on the plate. As it caught air, it became something a bit different--some blackberry and a little rosemary and a little mint. AMA's dolcetti continue to show all kinds of interesting thiings, although I like this vintage a bit less than the 2010 so far. I will let my last bottle sit for a while, but these aren't really wines to age. Interested to see what the "prestige cuvee"--a whopping $21--is like.

July 12, 2013 - My first dolcetto - and a nice one at that. Darker than I expected with medium body, some herbal notes and red fruit. It reminded me of a beaujolais with a bit more acidity and bite. After a few hours some nice violet notes came out. Enjoyable and a great value.
