Community Tasting Notes 5

August 6, 2017 - The better of the 3 Pyramid V Chardonnays on the night for me, but still too much DMS/canned corn note.

May 13, 2017 - I confess to knowing zero about this wine, but came across it in a tasting in HK today.
Is this a natural wine? I'm not sure, but it was thoroughly undrinkable. Now, I don't mean that natural wines are crap, it's just that it was so bad I thought it might have been one of those (infrequently) terrible natural wines one comes across from time to time.
I am not a fussy drinker, but this was simply gag material.
    Stay well, well away.

May 10, 2017 - Taste of New Zealand - 2017: Mango, guava, pear and a funky burnt element that distracts more as the wine warms up. Sweet fruit on the palate, quite honeyed at this point. Feels quite shallow and the length isn't really there. Disappointing.

March 14, 2016 - Even after a big decant, the canned corn note (DMS I assume) was too dominant. Not sure what happened here, my previous awesome bottle was direct from cellar door, I suspect transport issues a factor as it likely went from NZ to Tasmania then to Sydney. I stored it well since then. My final bottle (from same supplier) will be interesting....

March 2, 2013 - Wonderful balance, interest and flow through the palate. Good use of oak and a real sense of pure fruit. Good stuff, and will benefit from some time too.
