April 11, 2019 - Last bottle. Based upon my disappointment with the previous bottle I expected little, but a very sound cork led to a bottle of wine that still had personality and depth. I was tasting a developed, balanced wine with good fruit the very mild brett was only in the background and in that context, okay. Instead of cooking with it, it will be the wine for dinner.

October 24, 2018 - No one else has written a note about this wine for years. It’s in good shape, developed but still vital. Had a eight year old Cru B claret last night and this is a clear rival, slightly more rustic but not flawed or over the hill. Quite nice.

December 9, 2009 - Notably bright fruit amidst oxtail, leather, wood and marmite. Some of that speaks of opulence and of life; some of decline - it is past its peak. Really though, it's remarkably full, together and sweetly-fruited for its age. A ripe vintage and a modern style, well applied to a grape variety that easily possesses ageworthy tannin and acidity. 89.

April 4, 2008 - 1998 revisited ten years on (Nottingham): The immediate impression is of mushrooms and cheese (a mild blue cheese) on the nose, then some meaty bovril notes come along.
This is light and fragrant on the palate with some gentle tannins on the finish. Very pleasant and easy: nicely open and very approachable. A nice wine to drink, rather than taste.
